The year Bruce retired and the country went insane.
Eileen and Bruce didn't get to go to very many concerts at Wolf Trap this year, but they made up for it by going to see the 1980's ska band, UB40. Pretty rowdy crowd! The opening act was The Pietasters, who really got the crowd going.
Andrew joined Eileen and Bruce on a visit to see Rachel at Albero House in October. She was sooo happy to see him again.
We got a hotel on Virginia Beach...on the beach. We love doing that after the busy season.
Eileen and Bruce went on a ride to Copper Fox Distillery in Sperryville, VA, on a nice summer afternoon. This might have occurred the same day we went to Little Washington, VA, for brunch at Patty O's.
Every year, we, the Colbys, and the Levines get together during September for a combined birthday dinner for Eileen, Deb, and Joanne. But September is Eileen's birthday MONTH, and we do some nice dining.
Prior to leaving for our Rhine River cruise vacation, Eileen insisted that Bruce get a "proper" haircut. So Bruce met Will, who is co-owner of the Blue Ribbon Barbershop.
Eileen and Bruce drove to Florida to see her family for Thanksgiving. It was the first time all those people had been together (ever) and the first in a long time since all Eileen's siblings were together with their father, who turned 86 this year.
I think we may have taken more pics at Buc-ee's in Florence, South Carolina, than of anything/anyone else.
Rachel turned 34 this month. She's doing extremely well at the Albero House at St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children in Norfolk, VA. These are just some pics of her enjoying her chocolate birthday cake.
Another long-awaited trip to France to visit our longtime friends, Bene and Stephane Couture. Stephane was our first au pair and was living with us in Herndon when Andrew was born. We began using email and Facebook Messenger to keep in touch after our first trip there. Their children are now both attending college in northern France.
Bruce's retirement means more time/days to go on e-bike rides with the DC area "E-bike Lovers" Meetup group. This group does a lot of rides, almost 2 every week through the warmer months. Many of the routes include partial unpaved roads or trails. His home-converted Giant e-bike's tires have already proven to be too skinny to handle gravel and streams. Plus, that bike is more effort to ride. So he got this new (2023 model) Luckeep e-bike to go on those group rides.
